HBCU
Significance. |
|
Many students at historically black colleges and
universities do not have the opportunity to study abroad
either from the lack of knowledge about programs, the
lack of financial resources, or the lack of personal
cultural significance of programs offered. It seems that
most study abroad programs neglect the importance of
peoples of African descent. The HBCU student fails to
see her/himself as anything but a visitor in the foreign
country.
The ability to see how peoples of African descent share
a common bond, no matter where they are born, aids in
the process of unifying these peoples. No study abroad
program has emphasized the importance of the HBCU
student’s own cultural experience. As pressing as the
need is for language professionals in this country and
abroad it seems that many HBCU students still do not
take an interest in acquiring language skills. The
problem is that students think that they cannot relate
to speakers of the target language.
Head Hand Heart Educational Services, LLC has taken on
the challenge of exposing students of African descent in
the United States to people of African Descent all over
the world. We have dedicated ourselves to showing our
young scholars how to build global communities with
populations ignored by the developed world. Our goal is
also to make study abroad economically possible for
those students who feel they are unable to afford it.
